LIVE BLOG: Follow all the action as Laois face Waterford in Round 1 of All-Ireland Hurling Qualifiers

A shot at an extended season is up for grabs as Laois and Waterford clash this afternoon.

Nowlan Park is the venue as the Laois hurlers look to continue their All-Ireland journey for 2021.

This has not been a happy hunting ground for Laois this year following defeats to Kilkenny and Wexford.

But last weeks win over Antrim will have given them great confidence and they will be looking to play with the same freedom today.

One way or another – Laois will still have at least one more game to play before their 2021 campaign is over.

They will have to play Westmeath in the Division 1 league relegation playoff – but the exact date is dependent on what happens here.

If Laois win, they will progress to Round 2 of the All-Ireland hurling Qualifiers.

But if Laois lose, they will face Westmeath next weekend – with the Lake County playing Kerry in the Joe McDonagh Cup final later today.
