Previewing all of Thursday night’s Laois GAA action with SFC and IFC Round 2 to commence

The Laois GAA action continues tonight with two more games down for decision.

Round 2 of the top tier football competitions gets underway with games in the SFC and IFC down for decision.

Below, we will take a look at how the games are likely to pan out:

Laois SFC Round 2 Qualifier Section – Ballylinan v Clonaslee
In O’Moore Park at 7.30pm

It is do or die for these two tonight as whoever loses will be out of the 2021 championship.

2017 defeated finalists Ballylinan were desperately unlucky to be beaten by Rosenallis in Round 1.

While Clonaslee never really laid a glove on St Joseph’s who eased to a comfortable win.

Ballylinan are set to welcome back Jamie Farrell and Gary Walsh from suspension for tonight’s game.

2020 IFC champions Clonaslee should not be underestimated, but Ballylinan will be favourites to win this.

Odds – Ballylinan 2/5, Clonaslee 9/4, Draw 15/2

Laois IFC Round 2 Winners Section – Crettyard v Park-Ratheniska
In Stradbally at 7.30pm

A clash of colours could be on the cards in Stradbally as Crettyard and Park-Ratheniska meet with a spot in the semi finals on the line.

It will not be the end of the road for the loser as they will instead drop down to a quarter final.

2020 defeated finalists Crettyard needed an Evan O’Carroll piece of genius to rescue them against The Rock.

While 2020 JFC champions Park-Ratheniska continued their upward trajectory by soundly defeating their neighbours Timahoe.

Ciaran Burke is once again set to be absent for Crettyard and they will be hoping that O’Carroll steps up again.

While Park-Ratheniska will be trying to keep the ball away from him enough to win themselves – something that they just might do.

Laois IFC Round 2 Qualifier Section – Timahoe v The Rock
In Annanough at 7.30pm

The third game of the evening also throws in at 7.30pm where Timahoe and The Rock will fight it out.

The loser of this game heads for the relegation final while the prize for the victor is a quarter final place.

Timahoe have been in the last two relegation playoffs and would be favourites to make it three in a row.

They lost heavily to Park-Ratheniska in Round 1 while The Rock were beaten late on by Crettyard.

The Rock led for most of that game and if they play like that again tonight, it should be enough for success.
