LIVE BLOG: Follow all the action as Rathdowney-Errill and Borris-Kilcotton meet in the SHC

A place in the semi finals of the Laois SHC is the prize for whoever wins tonight’s clash between Borris-Kilcotton and Rathdowney-Errill.

O’Moore Park is the venue for a 7.45pm throw in where two of the top sides in the county will meet.

A draw will actually do Rathdowney-Errill and with their injury issues – they would probably appreciate the four week break.

Shane Keegan’s charges have been without Joe Fitzpatrick due to a broken arm and lost Ross King to a dislocated shoulder against Abbeyleix.

Paddy McCane missed that game too and is not expected to feature tonight while Mark Kavanagh, who also returned after a long injury lay off for the Abbeyleix game, is believed to be unavailable too.

That’s a serious amount of firepower for any team to lose but Rathdowney-Errill have the panel that can probably cope better than most with losses.

Borris-Kilcotton’s 2021 couldn’t have been going much worse prior to their victory over Camross.

They lost the 2020 championship final to Clough-Ballacolla and 2021 league final to Rathdowney-Errill before only managing a draw with Abbeyleix in Round 1.

But they were much improved for the win over Camross and manager Ciaran Comerford will be hoping to have Joe Campion available after he missed that game.

Stephen Phelan was forced off early in the Camross game with injury and it would be surprising if he featured.

A quarter final awaits whoever loses this game and it is certainly shaping up to be a fascinating affair.
