Laois Intermediate Football Championship

Arles-Kilcruise progressed to the Quarter-final of the Intermediate championship tonight following a 28 point win over Portlaoise.

However, for Portlaoise on the other hand, they will now face The Rock in the relegation final.

Arles-Kilcruise dominated the game from start to finish with Ross Munnelly scoring twelve points from play.

Kilcruise got off to a flying start as Dermot Nolan and Ross Munnelly (two) saw them race into an early lead.

Ben Brennan converted a free before Kevin Meaney fired the ball into the back of the net on the stroke of the water break – 1-6 to 0-1.

The second quarter saw extend their lead exponentially as David Conway, PJ Lawlor, Ross Munnelly, Kevin Meaney, Fran Egan and David Conway all raised white flags.

While Ross Munnelly finished off a dominant quarter with a goal before the interval – 2-13 to 0-3.

Fran Egan scored Kilcruise’s third goal of the game on the 37th minute before Ross Munnelly kicked seven more points as he continued to terrorise the Portlaoise defence.

That made it 3-19 to 0-4 at the second water break and the game was done and dusted.

Portlaoise found it really tough going as Ben Brennan was their leading light with four points.

But Kilcruise were ruthless and they kept scoring in the time that remained to win comfortably.
