The delayed 2020 Laois senior hurling and football finals will take place this weekend – and Laois GAA have made significant appointments in terms of the match officials.
Seamus Mulhare from The Heath will referee his first senior football final when he takes charge of the Portarlington v Graiguecullen game on Sunday.
While Padraig Dunne from Colt will oversee the hurling decider between Clough-Ballacolla and Borris-Kilcotton on Saturday night. It will also be a first senior final for Dunne.
Both referees have risen through the ranks on the local scene in the past couple of years and both have also taken charge of games on the intercounty calendar.
As well as that, the two have played for their clubs at senior championship level and indeed both are still lining out at the lower grades.
Shanahoe’s John Lalor has been appointed to referee the Premier IHC final between The Harps and Portlaoise on Friday night.
All three games will take place in O’Moore Park, though will be limited to an attendance of 500 with tickets only available through the competing clubs.
Laois GAA TV will be broadcasting all three finals live.
