Defeat for Laois as Offaly prove too strong in Ladies Leinster U-14 decider

Laois 1-3 Offaly 2-13
Ladies Leinster U-14 ‘B’ Championship Final

The Laois U-14 ladies were defeated in this afternoon’s Leinster final by neighbours Offaly.

Offaly came out victors when the sides met in the group phase and it was a similar story in Moate this afternoon.

But this young Laois side has shown immense improvement throughout this season and will look forward to better days in the coming years.

Offaly were on top from the start and led 0-6 to 0-1 at the first water break with Una O’Brien firing over five points.

Ailbhe Carroll was Laois’s only scorer in the first half as she finished the period with three points.

But Offaly took a 1-9 to 0-3 lead into the interval as Lucy Flynn scored the game’s opening goal after she reacted first to a shot that came back off the crossbar.

Laois continued to struggle for scores in the third quarter as a Una O’Brien goal left Offaly 2-11 to 0-3 ahead at the second water break

Laois never gave up and were rewarded for their endeavour with a goal through sub Niamh Peake before full time but this was Offaly’s day.
