It was a busy evening on the GAA front with games in the top two divisions of the football league.
With two rounds now completed in Division 1A Group B, we are no nearer to finding out who will progress to the semi finals or the relegation playoffs.
Portarlington scored a big win over Courtwood while O’Dempsey’s defeated Portlaoise to leave all teams level on two points.
Ben Coen, Matthew Finlay, Stephen Lennon and Brian Nugent all scored goals as O’Dempsey’s held on for a one point win.
That group will be decided in two weeks time when Portlaoise host Courtwood and O’Dempsey’s take on Portarlington.
In Group A, St Joseph’s maintained their 100% record following a comeback victory over Graiguecullen.
They trailed by nine points at one stage in the second half but fought their way back and an injury time goal from teenager Oisin Hooney led them to a one point win.
They are top on four points with Graiguecullen and Ballyroan-Abbey second with two – the latter enjoying victory over Ballylinan this evening.
In Division 1B Group B, Emo picked up their first win of the season with a 16 point victory over Clonaslee.
