The first round of the FAI Cup is taking place this weekend and there has been plenty of Laois involvement.
Dublin side Bohemians took on College Corinthians of Cork in Turner’s Cross this afternoon and won 5-0.
Manager Keith Long reshuffled his pack against the non-league outfit and this paved the way for a Laois teenager to shine.
Portlaoise youngster Aaron Doran was named on the wing today in what was his debut at this level.
And Doran made quite the impression as he scored a brilliant goal in the first half.
Meanwhile on Friday evening, Garry Comerford’s Athlone Town were involved in a dramatic encounter with Waterford FC.
With the Munster side leading 4-3 deep in injury time, former Liverpool striker Glen McAuley completed his hat-trick with a strike from the halfway line.
The game went to penalties and Stradbally native Comerford converted his spot kick but his teammates could not and they were eliminated.
