After an almost nine month shutdown, club GAA finally got back underway in Laois this week.
While Monday and Tuesday saw juvenile games take the lead, tonight saw the first adult games played in 2021.
There were three games down for decision in Division 4 of the football league.
An experienced Arles-Kilcruise got the better of a Spink side that still have the 2020 Junior ‘B’ final to play while Emo beat Timahoe and The Rock beat Portlaoise’s fourth-string side.
This year instead of eight team divisions, they have been split into A and B four-team groups based on geography.
The other significant action of the night came in the U-15 ‘A’ grade where Stradbally Parish Gaels and Portlaoise met in Rathleague.
This final group game from 2020 was essentially a championship quarter-final as whoever won would join Portlarlington, Ballylinan and St Joseph’s in this weekend’s semi-finals.
Portlaoise were six point winners and they will play St Joseph’s in the last four.
