A Laois rugby player is in line for a Women’s Six Nations appearance this weekend.
Emma Hooban, from Portlaoise, has been named on the bench for Ireland’s clash with France on Saturday at 2.15pm.
The Leinster hooker did not make the match day squad for the 45-0 win over Wales last week – but she has been called in now.
This will be her first time back in an Ireland matchday squad since March 2019
The former Portlaoise RFC forward, who plays with Blackrock College and Leinster, has made seven international appearances so far.
The results of this weekend’s matches will determine the Super Saturday fixtures.
England are already in the championship final after winning against Scotland and Italy – and they will meet whoever wins between Ireland and France.
Second will also meet second and third meet third from the respective pools on a huge day of rugby next weekend.
Saturday’s game will be shown live on RTE 2. Best of luck Emma!
