Joan Connolly (née Whyte)
Oaklawn, Portlaoise, Laois

Connolly Joan, Oaklawn, Portlaoise. Sept 18th 2020. Peacefully at her residence. Sadly missed by her husband Tony, sons Eoin and Niall, daughter Aoife, granddaughter Mia. Predeceased by her father Martin and mother Maureen. Sadly missed by her sisters Dolores and Veronica and brother Martin, sister in law Monica, brother in law Clem, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives, great neighbours and friends.

May she rest in peace

Given the current exceptional circumstances and to protect the welfare of everyone who knew her, a private funeral with immediate family only, will take place at 12 noon on Wednesday in St. Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise and will be streamed on the webcam http://www.portlaoiseparish.ie/web-cam/. Private cremation will follow in Newlands Cross.

James (Jimmy) Murphy
Kilmanman, Clonaslee, Laois

James (Jimmy) Murphy, Kilmanman, Clonaslee, Co. Laois. Died September 20th, at the Regional Hospital Tullamore. Predeceased by his loving Parents John and Mary and his dear sister Teresa Murray. Deeply regretted by his lovely wife Margaret and his loving family, Seamus and his wife Sharon, Marie and her husband Tommy, Caroline and her husband Willie, Margaret and her husband Richard, Ann and her partner Ross, Teresa and her partner Des, John, Paddy and Michael, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his sisters Margaret (Lalor – Mountmellick) and Mary (Parkinson – Castletown), nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, neighbours, relatives and his many friends.

Reposing in his home on Tuesday. His Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 12 noon in St. Manman’s Church, Clonaslee will be streamed live on clonasleeparish.ie. Burial afterward in the New Cemetery. The wake and funeral Mass will be for his immediate family. Sympathisers are very welcome in the precincts of the Church and Cemetery. Social Distancing must be observed at all times. The family would like to thank you for your kind understanding at this most difficult time.

Ballyrider, Stradbally, Laois

BUGGIE. SEAN. Ballyrider, Stradbally, Co Laois. Peacefully, at his home, surrounded by his loving wife Mary and family on 20th September 2020. Predeceased by his loving son Tony. Sadly missed by his family, his wife Mary, daughter Anne, sons, Brendan, John and Frank, grandchildren, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, extended family, neighbours and his many friends.

‘May Sean Rest in Peace’

Reposing at his home on Monday 21st. September from 2oc. with recital of the rosary for family only at 8oc. Funeral Mass for Sean will take place on Tuesday 22nd September at 12 noon in The Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally and afterwards Sean will be laid to rest in Moyanna Cemetery.

Due to current circumstances regarding COVID-19 and H.S.E. guidelines, Sean’s funeral will be for family members only. Please adhere to social distancing in the church and at the cemetery.

Mary Bergin (née Grant)
Dervald, Durrow, Laois/Shinrone, Offaly

The death has occurred of Mary Bergin (nee Grant), Dervald, Durrow, Laois and Shinrone, Offaly, died Sept. 17th 2020, peacefully, at Naas General Hospital. Predeceased by her son Desmond. Sadly missed by her husband Sean, daughters Ena and Edel and son David, brothers, sisters in law, sons in law, daughters in law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Due to the HSE and government guidelines, Mary’s funeral Mass on Sunday in St. Mary’s Church, Shinrone at 2pm and burial afterwards in The new cemetery, Shinrone, will be private to family only. The family would like to thank you for your support, co-operation and understanding during this difficult time. Family flowers only.

Fidelma Freney
Portlaoise, Laois

Fidelma Freney – Myler, Portlaoise, Sept.16th, 2020, after a short illness, bravely borne. Former Journalist Leinster Express. Widow of Brian Myler. Sadly missed by her brother, sisters, relatives and many friends.

Requiem Mass on Tuesday at 12 noon in SS Peter and Paul’s Church Portlaois will be streamed on https://www.portlaoiseparish.ie/

Due COVID restrictions the Mass will be for family members. Sympathisers are welcome in the precincts of the church and SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery.

Bruce Wilkie
Wolfhill Road, The Swan, Laois

Deeply regretted by his loving mother Theresa, sons Seán and Bruce, daughters Denise and Cora, brothers Alan and Cormac, sisters Stasia and Sheevaun, wife Betty, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren Aoife, Shay and Jack, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A private family repose will take place at 3.30pm on Saturday in Rigney’s Funeral Home, Athy. Removal on Saturday evening at 5.30pm to arrive at St. Mary’s Church, Wolfhill for 6pm. A private cremation will take place at a later date.

Richard Hetherington
Coote Street, Mountrath, Laois

Richard Hetherington, Coote Street, Mountrath, Co. Laois. Sept. 17. 2020 (unexpectedly). Deeply regretted and will be sadly missed by his sisters Ann and Madge (Carter), brothers John (Australia) and Tom (Kildare), uncle Tom, brother in law Dominic, sister in law Remy, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

A private family funeral Mass will take place this Monday morning (Sept. 21st.) at 10.00 o’c in St. Fintan’s Church, Mountrath (EirCode R32 X338), followed by burial in St. Fintan’s Cemetery Mountrath.

Due to Covid 19 Directives only 50 people can enter the church, but other people by observing social distancing can attend outside the church or in the cemetery.

Richard’s family would like to thank you for your co-operation, understanding, and support at this sad and difficult time.
