There was an historic first county final win, numerous semi-finals decided, relegation battles and underage games.
On a busy Saturday of action, pride of place goes to the Portlaoise ladies footballers who won the senior county final for the first time in the club’s history, denying Sarsfields an historic eight-in-a-row in the process.
In the Premier IHC there were comfortable wins for Portlaoise and The Harps as they set up a repeat of the 2018 final which Portlaoise won while Colt-Shanahoe preserved their status in the grade with a big win over neighbours Mountrath.
In the IHC, Rathdowney-Errill and Trumera will meet in the final after the wins over Borris-Kilcotton and Clough-Ballacolla respectively.
In the Junior ‘B’ championship, Kyle’s interest was ended after they were beaten by The Harps who join Camross and Portlaoise in the semi-final. The other semi-final place will be either Ballinakill or Rathdowney-Errill.
There was also a number of juvenile games down for decision.
