Laois horse racing trainer Kieran Cotter enjoyed his sixth winner of the season in Bellewstown on Wednesday.
The Portarlington based flat racing trainer tasted success for a second time this year with A Step To Far.
The mare, who was the 2/1 favourite, ran in the 5f Fast Shipping Hill Sprint Handicap where she touched off That’s Mad by half a length.
She took home the €5,400 first prize and was saddled by Colin Keane who would have four winners on the track yesterday.
It was a second successive win for the horse who will try to make it a hat-trick at the same venue at 4.10pm tomorrow.
There is a further Laois connection to the horse as she is owned by Sinead and Dermot Dunne who are also from Portarlington.
Speaking after the win yesterday to IrishRacing.com, trainer Cotter was delighted with the win.
He said: “We were in two minds whether to turn out tomorrow but we surely will now. She put up a good performance there.
“I was just a bit afraid of the ground but I walked it earlier and didn’t think it was too bad. If it was good ground they wouldn’t see which way she went here as she has a load of boot.
“She’s improving all the time and every run she has got that bit better.”
