Laois GAA club release statement following ‘positive Covid-19 case’ in their area

The Harps GAA have issued a statement after a person tested positive for Covid-19 in their area.

The club, who are based in Durrow and Cullohill, are asking all players, coaches and members to follow all GAA and HSE guidelines if they are deemed a close contact and are sent forward for a test.

They are also asking players to let their management know, in a confidential manner, if they are awaiting a test or test result so they can assess their ability to fulfill fixtures should a potential issue arise.

The Harps are set to be involved in four hurling matches this weekend at adult and juvenile level – with their Premier Intermediates facing Clonaslee on Saturday evening in Colt.

A statement, released on social media, said: “To all players and coaches, following a recent positive case of Covid-19 in the area, all members are all to follow the GAA and HSE guidelines, in particular anyone who has been in close contact must undergo a test.

“A close contact is any person who has spent more than 15 minutes face to face within 2 metres of a person with Coronavirus in any setting.

“We are asking all players, management and members to ensure that they follow the guidelines and that players let their management know, on a confidential basis, that they are a close contact case and are awaiting a test and a result.

“Management should contact all players on a confidential basis and assess their ability to fulfill their fixtures as we have a duty of care to our community and to other clubs concerned.

“Players and management must reconfirm the GAA health questionnaire before any match or training session.”
