The National Indoor Championships took place in Abbotstown over the weekend where Laois took home three medals.
Two athletes from St Abban’s tasted glory at the meeting in three different events.
On Saturday, St Abban’s had five athletes were involved in competition.
Ruby Millet was 5th in the Long Jump, Nessa Millet ran 400m and came second in her heat qualifying for the final. In which she came 7th in 55.79 seconds.
Cheryl Nolan ran the 3000m in 9.59 minutes to take 10th place.
But the big winners on the day Saragh Buggy and Daena Kelly.
Buggy won gold in the Long Jump with new PB to boot of 6.05m. While Kealy took joint tirrd in High Jump with a clearance of 1.70m to win a bronze medal.
After a sterling performance in the 1,500 heats on the Saturday, Maisy O’Sullivan was up for the final on Sunday.
Maisy positioned herself well throughout the race but unfortunately came up short in the dust up in the final 200 metres, eventually finishing in 5th place.
Saragh Buggy returned to the arena and once again took victory with a Triple Jump of 12.80m.
Saragh’s dedication to the sport has been exemplary over the last number of years and this national title is just reward for all her efforts and hard work.
