Crettyard GFC was recently selected to become involved in the Healthy Club Project 2020 along with two other clubs from Laois and 142 clubs nationwide.
The aim is to achieve official recognition as a Healthy Club by the GAA and Healthy Ireland, with a Healthy Club flag and Plaque provided to all official clubs upon completion of the criteria.
Crettyard GFC hope this will lead to increased media coverage for the club both locally and nationally and potentially increase club membership and broaden the volunteer base.
142 clubs have already gained their recognition as a “Healthy Club” and the ultimate aim of the GAA is to eventually have every club in the country recognised as a Healthy Club.
They also hope that this will be a positive development for the health of their community.
Crettyard GFC have 18 months to achieve their “Healthy Club” status, they will be focusing on priority areas of health initially.
Their journey will be documented and regular updates given to them by Croke Park.
If anyone would like to join the “Healthy Club” Team and help implement and co-ordinate this project please contact Eoin on 087-7412748.
Crettyard GFC would appreciate as much support as can be given to help them achieve their aim to be recognised as a “Healthy Club”.
They will have a launch reception soon to Kick Start this exciting new venture for their club.
