Portlaoise Panthers incredible achievement of wining the All Ireland Division 1 women’s National Cup last month has been recognised in the Basketball Ireland monthly awards.

The Panthers had a thrilling 75-71 final win over Trinity Meteors, to claim their third national cup title in seven seasons.

Originally from Florida, Trudy joined Portlaoise Panthers at the start of this season from Jacksonville University.

January was an incredible month for basketball in Portlaoise with Portlaoise Panthers winning the All Ireland U-18 cup only two days before the senior final.

Portlaoise Panthers are currently joint top of the Southern Conference of the Division 1 National League, albeit having played a game more than Team Tom McCarthy’s St Mary’s from Castleisland in Kerry.

They host the Thurles-based Tipperary Knights at 6pm in St Mary’s Hall on Saturday with further games over the next month against NUIG Mystics (at home and away) and then away to Trinity Meteors.
