What a strike!
Anyone who was in Dr Hyde Park on Sunday witnessed with their own eyes Evan O’Carroll’s wonder goal against Roscommon.
With the game ticking towards injury time, Laois found themselves six points down and seemingly without any hope.
However, keeper Niall Corbet found substitute Damien O’Connor with a pinpoint kick-out and he soloed to half way before delivering the ball into O’Carroll.
He broke the ball down with his left hand and turned onto his right foot where he unleashed a thunderbolt into the top corner of the net.
Laois would later go on to draw the game with the final kick when captain Kieran Lillis pounced on a loose ball to score off his left foot and leave the game tied 2-14 apiece at full time.
Speaking about the goal, Lillis called it ‘unbelievable’.
He said: “It was unbelievable. He got in one-on-one with the keeper a few minutes earlier and the keeper made a good block.
“But Jesus that would be on goals of the week or something if it was on Sky Sports.”
