South football Leinster final on the horizon for Heywood CS following Kilcullen win

Heywood are through to the South Leinster ‘C’ Senior Football Championship final following a four point win over Cross and Passion yesterday.

The Laois school, managed by Seamus Kerr, Paddy Gorman and Ronan Byrne, defeated the Kildare side and will now contest the decider.

Spink, Ballyroan-Abbey, The Heath, O’Dempsey’s and St Joseph’s all have players on the team.

The game itself was close enough in the opening ten minutes but Heywood pulled away before half time thanks to James McWey, Enda McWey and Brian Whelan.

Cross and Passion came back at Heywood on the resumption but a cracking Davin McEvoy goal turned the tide back their way.

The Kilcullen outfit did get a goal to reduce the deficit to two points but Enda McWey and Dylan Cuddy made the game safe right at the end.

Heywood will now play Tullow CS or Colaiste Cill Mhaintain in the final.
