One change to Laois football team ahead of league clash with Armagh

Mike Quirke has named his team to face Armagh in the Division 2 Allianz National football league this weekend.

And there is just one change to the 15 who started in the draw with Roscommon last weekend.

Trevor Collins, who played for IT Carlow in the Sigerson Cup final on Wednesday, drops out of the starting 15 with Graiguecullen’s Brian Byrne coming in.

This will be his first ever league start.

O’Moore Park will play host to the Round 2 clash and will take place at an early time of 6pm.

Laois are gearing up for the encounter after last weekend drama in Dr Hyde Park where two late goals from Evan O’Carroll and Kieran Lillis saw the game finish all square.

It was a positive start the league after an experimental O’Byrne Cup campaign saw Quirke’s men suffer a few losses.

Armagh will be arriving with all guns blazing after they had a 2-18 to 1-8 win over Cavan last week.

The side are captained by Portlaoise’s Kieran Lillis who is joined by joint vice-captains John O’Loughlin and Colm Begley for the 2020 season.

This weekend’s team is as follows.

LAOIS – Niall Corbett (Clonaslee); Brian Byrne (Graiguecullen), Mark Timmons (Graiguecullen), Gearoid Hanrahan (Mountmellick); Sean O’Flynn (Courtwood), Robbie Pigott (Portarlington), Paddy O’Sullivan (Portarlington); John O’Loughlin (Rosenallis), Sean Byrne (Portarlington); Michael Keogh (St Joseph’s), Colm Murphy (Portarlington), Eoin Lowry (Killeshin); Mark Barry (O’Dempsey’s), Kieran Lillis (Portlaoise), Evan O’Carroll (Crettyard).
