After a remarkable first foray into the GAA Masters football championship – the Laois Masters are back for 2020.
In their maiden voyage in 2019, Laois were drawn in a group with Dublin, Westmeath, Kildare, Tyrone and Clare.
Laois were so impressive in those games that two of their players received call-ups to represent Ireland in an international test against Australia.
Laois defeated Westmeath, Kildare and Clare but defeats to Tyrone and Dublin sent them to the All-Ireland Shield final.
That saw them face Galway where they ran out 1-9 to 0-6 winners to reach their first ever final.
However, silverware eluded them as Longford-Leitrim defeated Laois 1-16 to 2-9 in the decider.
But the lads are back again – and the highlight of their season will be an away trip in July to face the London Masters.
Organiser Mark Rooney said: “We are recruiting for 2020 for anyone that is 40 this year or anyone that didn’t get involved last year.
“Our first game is in May with the highlight a trip to play London on July the 18.
“There is about 30 supporters booked to go already.
“Anyone interested in playing can contact me 087-6276292 or Liam O’Connor directly 086-2723467.”
