Draws made for Kelly and Palmer Cups as domestic season set to get underway

The draws for the Kelly Cup and the Palmer Cup were made at tonight’s Laois County Board meeting.

In the Kelly Cup, eight teams have entered and all of those are senior sides bar one.

Defending champions Arles-Killeen will begin the defence of their title with an away trip to Killeshin.

While defeated finalists from 2019 St Joseph’s host Ballyroan-Abbey.

The other two quarter finals see Arles-Kilcruise host Graiguecullen while intermediate side Crettyard host Ballylinan.

The competition is set to get underway on Sunday March 1 and will run for the following three weeks.

Meanwhile, only three clubs have entered this year’s Palmer Cup.

Defending champions Camross have entered while so too have Abbeyleix and Portlaoise.

It was proposed to play the competition on a Round Robin basis at tonight’s County Committee meeting.
